Climb aboard the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad for a trip full of stunning views and stories…

Become a part of moving history as you travel through the Cumberland Narrows, and hear the story of Lovers Leap. Marvel at the beauty of the land as you arc the famous Helmstetters Horseshoe Curve, a half mile bend through the Cash Valley. Watch your adrenaline rise as you barrel through the 914 foot long Bush Tunnel and gaze into Bone Cave where bones of prehistoric saber toothed cats and mastodons were discovered during the construction of the line. Enjoy the breathtaking views as you ascend 1300 feet through the unspoiled beauty of the Allegheny Mountains to Frostburg. There you can see the 1916 Baldwin steam engine turned around for the trip back to Cumberland. All will enjoy the magic of this journey as it soothes and satisfies both young and old.

This program will also tell you of the Great Race West between the C&O Canal Company and the B&O Railroad to become the nation's first shipping artery across the Allegheny Front.
